A big thank you to our wonderful pupils who supported the Team Hope Shoebox Appeal so generously again this year.
There was great excitement when Ballagh NS were announced winners at the Scifest Science Fair in the CBS Roscommon recently. The students in 3rd to 6th class entered two projects in the competition. The winning project was entitled “Can video games trigger an adrenaline response?” and the scientists involved in this were Seán Rohan, Mark Cullen, Jasmine Gibbons, Niamh Hanley, David Cox and Ruairí Gibbons. Our second project “Does Tea and other substances stain your Teeth” was compiled by Lyndsey Gibbons, Rachel Trimble Higgins, Michéal Farrell, Áine Madden, Emily Ryan and Anthony Cox, This project was also very highly praised. Well done to all the students who presented their work in such a professional manner.

A big congratulations to Anya in Senior Infants, who won first prize in the Jnr/Snr Infants category of the Taste of the Lakelands Art Competition. This competition was open to all local Primary Schools so it was a super achievement to be awarded 1st prize. Anya proudly displays her wonderful drawing and also the Mega Colouring Set which was presented to her.
Pupils in 5th & 6th class spent a very enjoyable morning at the Taste of the Lakelands Festival where they were given baking lessons by an Italian Chef. The children made some very tasty pizzas which they then ate fresh from the oven.
Pupils in the Senior Room had a wonderful day recently when they travelled to Dublin with Ms. Nolan and Ms. McGreevey. Their first stop was at Dublin, where they were given a costumed guided tour of the Viking and Medieval History exhibitions. They also visited the two displays in the History Hunters Exhibition. Following lunch, they then travelled to Dáil Éireann, where they were given a guided tour of Leinster House. It was a great day and one that made a big impression on the children.
A big congratulations to Anthony who won a silver medal in the Solo Music Category of the County Roscommon Community Games in Elphin last weekend. Anthony performed a piece on the banjo and a piece on the piano. We are very lucky in Ballagh NS to have such an array of talent!!
Adam and Sophie made Ballagh NS and Kilgefin Community Games very proud when they both scooped medals at the County Roscommon Community Games Art Competition in Kilbride recently. The standard is always extremely high at these events so to have two winners from Ballagh NS is a wonderful achievement. Keep up the good work Adam and Sophie. We are very proud of you both.
A big congratulations to 6th class pupil Katie, and past pupils Hannah, Caroline and Jodi, who played on the U16 St. Faithleach’s Football team who won the Div 3A Championship County Final recently. A great achievement. Well done Girls!!
It was great to see such a large gathering this morning for our Walk To School. What a wonderful way to start the school day – enjoying the beautiful weather, with some exercise and good company. We hope the parents enjoyed the walk as much as the children did.
